Future Planning with Kerry Organic Farmers Group

February saw the IKC3 team up with Teagasc to facilitate a ‘blue sky’ session with organic farmers and those considering converting to organic. Posing the question ‘What could the future look like for organic farming in the next few years – what is realistic and achievable?
Working groups developed a range of practical ideas and needs to support the scale up of organic including potential new markets to explore, access to research and range of other issues including feed supply, climate change and alternative uses for organic biproducts. Ideas will be taken forward to future workshops as interest in organic farming continues to develop.
Facilitating at this popular event from IKC3 was Mary Ann Hurley, Robert Ludgate and David Williamson and from Teagasc, Joe Kelleher, who coordinates the group which has over 100 members. .
