Eve Savage, Educational Designer at IKC3 and Dr Tim Yeomans, Centre Manager at Shannon ABC, located at MTU Kerry Campus, were guest speakers at Showcase Ireland 2024 at the RDS. They spoke on the topic of ‘Wool Wonders; Different Strands of Innovation’ which focused on research, innovation, education & outreach opportunities for the Irish wool sector and the promotion of the Irish Grown Wool Council of Ireland. They also highlighted a number of projects carried out by the Circular Bioeconomy Research Group and Circular Bioeconomy Cluster delivering high impact circular and sustainable solutions for industry including Donegal Yarns.
Irish designer Dr. Don O’Neill detailed how high end international brands are embracing natural wool and tweed fabrics synonymous with Ireland’s heritage, which can provide Irish manufacturers and designers with new routes to market.
