Sustainability Skills for Female Entrepreneurs

To celebrate International Women’s Day on the 8th March, ICK3 teamed up with Ballyhoura Development CLC and Local Enterprise Office Limerick and met with female entrepreneurs who run business based in the Ballyhoura area, Limerick City and surrounds.

The key theme for the event was ‘what sustainability skills and knowledge do SMEs need and how might we incorporate sustainability into our business plans and models?’

Presenting on the emerging issues for achieving low carbon targets was David Williamson and Mary Anne Hurley from IKC3. The event was co-ordinated and facilitated by Carrie O’Donoghue from Ballyhoura Development and scene setting from Ciara Farrell from the Limerick Local Enterprise office.

In a lively discussion, a range of skills needs were identified by entrepreneurs running their own business across a broad range of sectors including fashion, leisure,  care, food and financial services. Planning for legislation, sustainable fashion and the need to network together and share best practice were just a few of the of the emerging themes and plans for future sustainability sessions will follow.
